CryptoBilis, an authorized reseller of crypto hardware wallets in Malaysia, hosted this year’s 2023 Bitcoin Pizza Day along with Polygon Guild Malaysia, Bitcoin Malaysia, and Cryptocurrency Malaysia on June 3, 2022, at Sentul Warehouse 3, Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Bitcoin Pizza Day is a “Bitcoin holiday” celebrated every May 22nd to commemorate the first documented real-world transaction using Bitcoin. On this day in 2010, Bitcoin enthusiast Laszlo Hanyecz completed a transaction where he purchased two Papa John’s pizzas for 10,000 Bitcoins.
During that time, Bitcoin was still unknown, and only a few enthusiasts appreciated its value. Hanyecz’s transaction was a significant milestone in demonstrating how Bitcoin can be used as a form of money for real-world goods. This event also became one of the greatest missed opportunities had Hanyecz chosen to hold on to his 10,000 bitcoins instead of exchanging them for two boxes of pizza, they would have been worth exponentially more today. The approximate value of one bitcoin on May 22, 2023, is $26,849.27, so the value of 10,000 bitcoins would have been $268,492,700!
Bitcoin Pizza Day now serves as a reminder of the humble beginnings of Bitcoin and highlights its explosive growth throughout the years. The celebration of Bitcoin Pizza Day 2023 passes on the significance of this event for future generations to remember.

There were 5 pizza boxes displayed on stage and 5 teams, with 5 members maximum for each team, who were chosen to compete. This event highlight was not to be missed as it paid tribute to what the event was all about—Bitcoin and pizza.
